Battlefield 6's battle royale mode "RedSec" to reportedly launch this week

Battlefield 6’s upcoming battle royale mode might drop as soon as this week.

Electronic Arts is reportedly set to reveal a battle royale mode for Battlefield 6 this week. EA had begun testing a battle royale mode for the shooter in Battlefield Labs earlier this year, and even posted a list of takeaways for the mode on Twitter/X last week.

To date, the mode has not been officially revealed, nor has it been given a release date. However, recent leaks from user Modern Warzone claim that the battle royale mode is called “RedSec,” and will launch later this week with Season 1.

Battlefield 6’s battle royale mode reportedly launches later this week

We’ve known for a while now that Electronic Arts is working on a battle royale mode for its first-person shooter Battlefield 6. Developer Ripple Effect Studios is leading development on the new mode, which has been available in playtesting exclusively to Battlefield Labs members.

According to user Modern Warzone, the battle royale mode is called “RedSec,” with a planned release date of 28 October. That means the mode is set to drop alongside Battlefield 6’s Season 1 content on 28 October, despite not being on EA’s content roadmap for this season.

The leak claims that Battlefield 6 is set to launch its new battle royale mode as a “full on shadowdrop.” While there have been rumours of the mode being free-to-play at launch, the leak did not confirm as such. If the battle royale mode does launch this week, it’ll mark another addition to a packed first season of content for Battlefield 6.

In a community update for the battle royale mode’s playtests on Battlefield Labs, EA outlined a few changes it had planned for the mode. Some of these changes include modified close-range TTK, a higher armour plate capacity, bug fixes, and better vehicle balancing.

Battlefield 6 Season 1 launches on 28 October, 2025.
