An avalanche of new content is about to hit Battlefield 6 players.
Electronic Arts and Battlefield Studios have released their first trailer for Battlefield 6 Season 1, a seasonal content update that includes new maps, game modes, weapons, and a battle pass. Season 1 is set to launch next week on 28 October, with three planned phases of content drops.
Here’s the trailer:
Battlefield 6 Season 1 trailer unveils new maps
Battlefield Studios has unveiled more details for Battlefield 6 Season 1, which launches next week. The seasonal update will consist of three phases, with the first phase entitled “Rogue Ops,” and dropping on 28 October. Each phase of Season 1 will launch with at least one map (or map update), along with new modes or weapons.
The developer’s new trailer for Battlefield 6 goes over Season 1's launch content, plus some of the season's later phases of content. In Season 1, players will get two new maps: Blackwell Fields and Eastwood. Blackwell Fields will launch with Rogue Ops, as an All-Out Warfare map set in a big Californian oil field, with both vehicle and infantry battles enabled.
Eastwood will launch with the California Resistance phase of Season 1 on 18 November. This map injects a bit of vibrancy into the game’s existing map rotation, set in a Californian town in the suburbs. It even includes a wide-open golf course and drained pools, as players take the fight in and out of the suburban houses.
Battlefield 6 Season 1’s new modes
Two new game modes are coming in Battlefield 6 Season 1. The first is Strikepoint, arriving at launch in Season 1. This is a 4v4 PvP mode where players only get one life per round, and each team has to capture the objective or eliminate the enemy team for a total of six rounds to win. It sounds like a more tactical Counter-Strike-like take on Battlefield’s core gameplay.
In November’s California Resistance update, Battlefield 6 will add an 8v8 mode called Sabotage. Here, players have to destroy boxes of equipment scattered across a small map, or prevent the enemy team from doing so. Players will switch between offense and defense here, and whoever destroys the most equipment wins.
Notably, the game is not adding any new large-scale game modes in Season 1.
Battlefield 6 Season 1's new weapons and battle pass
Battlefield 6 Season 1 also adds a battle pass, consisting of new weapons and cosmetics for players to earn. All of the season’s new weapons will be on the battle pass’ free tiers, which means that you won’t have to fork up money to claim them. The battle pass itself has four different paths for players to progress through depending on what they want to claim, with a free fifth path becoming available when all four paths are complete.
Of course, the battle pass will also have paid tiers that players can unlock by purchasing Battlefield Pro. As for the new weapons, here’s what you can expect to get your hands on in Season 1 Rogue Ops:
- SOR-300C: A close-range carbine with a lower fire rate, but higher damage.
- Mini Fix: A faster sniper rifle option for Recon players, allowing them to shoot through the gun’s entire 10-round magazine without having to cycle a new round every time they fire. It’s a bit weaker than other sniper rifles, however.
- GGH-22: A new sidearm option that is more lethal at short range, but is otherwise a balanced option in the sidearm roster.
More new stuff is coming in Season 1, including a new vehicle and more weapon attachments:
- Traverser Mk. 2–APC vehicle: This new armoured personnel carrier joins the fray in Rogue Ops, and comes with mounted weapons and an integrated med bay to heal players.
- New attachments: From rail covers for rifles to faster draw speed on light machine guns, more attachments are coming to allow players to better customise their weapons.
