Halo is making the leap to PlayStation consoles.
Franchise steward Halo Studios has officially announced Halo: Campaign Evolved, a full-fledged remake of Halo: Combat Evolved built in Unreal Engine 5. The game adjusts the original game’s environments for co-op multiplayer, but notably does not include any PvP multiplayer modes.
Halo: Campaign Evolved also sees the franchise make the leap to PlayStation consoles for the first time, launching on PlayStation 5 in 2026.

Halo: Campaign Evolved announced for 2026 release
Halo: Combat Evolved is officially getting a remake. During this week’s Halo World Championship kickoff, game developer Halo Studios–recently rebranded from 343 Industries–announced its next big project. The developer is making a remake of the very first Halo game in Unreal Engine 5, launching simultaneously on both Xbox and PlayStation consoles in 2026.
Halo: Campaign Evolved is a campaign-only remake of the first Halo game, taking players back in time to experience Master Chief and Cortana’s fateful first encounter with the mysterious weapon known as the Halo. The campaign has been fully rebuilt with modern visuals and new cinematics, with the entire original voice cast also having returned to record new voicelines.
Combat has also been touched up to bring things up to par with recent Halo games, and the soundtrack has also been remastered. Nine more weapons from later titles in the franchise have been added to Master Chief’s arsenal, as well. There’s also some new story content here for players to chew on, in the form of three all-new prequel missions following Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson.
In Halo: Campaign Evolved, players will also be able to hijack enemy vehicles like the Wraith tank, or use Skulls to remix missions with randomised weapons or scaled-down UI. Halo: Campaign Evolved is also playable in four-player online co-op or two-player couch co-op, with both cross-play and cross-progression enabled across all platforms.
Halo: Campaign Evolved launches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2026.
