Silent Hill players on PC were in for a surprise this weekend, as some who purchased the standard edition of Silent Hill f on Steam discovered they had access to content reserved for the more expensive digital deluxe and pre-order editions.
Silent Hill f Deluxe Edition content accidentally unlocked
The US$80 Digital Deluxe Edition of Silent Hill f comes with a bundle of extras including exclusive outfits, an item pack, a digital art book, and the game’s official soundtrack. However, reports began appearing on the Silent Hill subreddit that players who only bought the US$70 standard edition had found some of those items in their libraries.
Several noted that the outfits appeared to be unlocked, though the soundtrack and art book were not included in the mix-up.
Konami quickly addressed the situation in a statement posted on the official Silent Hill X (formerly Twitter) account.
In the post, the publisher confirmed that bonus and pre-order content had been “temporarily accessible” on the Steam version of the game due to an error. A patch is now in development and will be released soon to remove the mistakenly distributed content.
Although no specific timeline was given, Konami made it clear the fix will ensure that only players who paid for the digital deluxe or pre-order editions retain access to the extra features. Standard edition players who briefly enjoyed the bonus outfits or other digital content should expect them to disappear once the update is rolled out.
For now, anyone with the standard edition of Silent Hill f who noticed extra outfits or bonuses can consider it a short-lived perk, so enjoy it while you can, and take a whole lot of screenshots and videos for good measure.
