Castorice is set to arrive in Honkai: Star Rail alongside the game's version 3.2 update in April.
Honkai: Star Rail has begun to reveal the new set of playable characters coming to the game's version 3.2 update, starting with Castorice. Castorice will wield the Quantum element and follow the new Path of Remembrance, with her memosprite being a ferocious dragon.
Castorice, also known as the ‘Servant of Death’ and ‘daughter of the River of Souls’, serves as the mortician of Okhema and Aglaea's hidden executioner. She hails from the city of Aidonia, a land ‘where snow falls endlessly’ but has since ‘drifted into sweet slumber’. As the Chrysos Heir in search of the ‘Death’ Coreflame from the Titan known as Thanatos, Castorice has the fearsome ability to inflict death on those she touches.
Castorice also has an unnamed sister, possibly in reference to the basis of her name in Greek and Roman mythology. The name Castorice is the feminine version of the masculine name Castor, which refers to the twin deities Castor and Pollux. In Greek mythology, Castor and Pollux alternate between Olympus and Hades after Pollux chose to give half of the immortality granted to him by Zeus to Castor to save his twin brother from dying to a mortal wound.
In the Penacony Trailblaze Missions in Honkai: Star Rail version 3.0, Castorice helped to defend Okhema from an ambush by the forces of the Strife Titan Nikador. She was also tasked by Aglaea to execute the Trailblazer and Dan Heng when the former tested their intentions for Amphoreus, though Castorice was personally against harming the two Nameless. Castorice also assisted the Trailblazer as they went back in time to find a way to defeat Nikador, notably asking the Strife Titan about the whereabouts of the Death Titan to no avail.
While Honkai: Star Rail developer HoYoverse has yet to unveil too many details about Castorice's kit, they did show a snippet of her ability animations ahead of the release of version 3.0. In the quick preview, Castorice can be seen apparently ripping open a fabric in reality to summon her dragon memosprite and order it to unleash a powerful breath attack.
Castorice is set to join Honkai: Star Rail's expansive roster of playable characters with the release of version 3.3, which is set to arrive sometime in April. Based on the trend of previous character releases, we can expect at least one more 5-star character arriving in version 3.3 to be revealed on Wednesday (February 11).
Before version 3.2 comes version 3.1 in late February, with the upcoming version featuring two more Flame Chasers in Mydei and Tribbie.
Honkai: Star Rail is currently in version 3.0, which features three new characters in The Herta, Aglaea, and the Trailblazer's new Path of Remembrance version. The game's most recent major update also saw the release of the new world of Amphoreus as well as a new in-game Path in the Path of Remembrance.
