Honkai: Star Rail has revealed a new playable character coming in Version 4.4 in July: Himeko Nova, an alternate version of the beloved Astral Express Navigator Himeko.
Who is Himeko Nova?
Himeko Nova will wield the Fire element and follow the Path of Erudition, just like her original version. While details of Himeko Nova's kit have yet to be revealed, a mecha can be seen in the background of her splash art, and may hint at her having a summon.
This mecha may be the rumoured mechanical giant hand that defeated the ‘Herald of Death’, a former Supplicant of the Phantasmoon Games 15 years before the game's current setting that carried out mass murders of Planarcadian civilians. Himeko Nova gaining control of this powerful mecha may be part of her personal story's advancement, with her return to her home planet of Planarcadia.
With the reveal of Himeko Nova, Himeko has now become the fourth member of the Astral Express to receive an alternate version after the Trailblazer, March 7th, and Dan Heng.
Himeko Nova also marks the 10th playable character to be released that is an alternate version of an existing character, when not counting the Trailblazer's many alternate forms. Those other alternative characters, by order of release, include Dan Heng • Imbibitor Lunae (Dan Heng), March 7th's Hunt version (March 7th), Fugue (TIngyun), The Herta (Herta), Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae (Dan Heng), Evernight (March 7th), Sparxie (Sparkle), Silver Wolf LV.999 (Silver Wolf), and Mortenax Blade (Blade).
When is Himeko Nova releasing?
Himeko Nova is expected to be released in early August as part of Honkai: Star Rail's Version 4.4 update. Additional playable characters coming in Version 4.4 may also be announced in the coming days.
The estimated early August release date for Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.4 is based on the game's current version, Version 4.2, being released on 21 April. Assuming Version 4.2 will last the typical duration, Version 4.3 is expected to be released sometime in the first week of June. And if Version 4.3 will also follow the typical duration, then Version 4.4 should be released sometime in mid-July.
