The Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero collaboration will mark the first-ever direct crossover event for HoYoverse games.
HoYoverse has revealed that Ellen Joe and Astra Yao will be added in Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.8 as part of its highly-anticipated collaboration event with Zenless Zone Zero. HoYoverse made the reveal during the Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.7 preview livestream on Sunday (20 September).
HoYoverse first announced the Honkai: Star Rail-Zenless Zone Zero collaboration in August, marking the first-ever direct collaboration between two of HoYoverse's biggest modern games. Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.8 is expected to be released in late December.
How will Ellen Joe and Astra Yao look like as Honkai: Star Rail characters?
While HoYoverse did not release any more details on the upcoming Honkai: Star Rail-Zenless Zone Zero collab, we can expect Ellen Joe and Astra Yao will fulfill roles as Honkai: Star Rail characters similar to that of their original versions in Zenless Zone Zero.
In Zenless Zone Zero, Ellen Joe is a S-Rank Ice Attack agent. Ellen Joe's kit is centered around gaining Flash Freeze Charge through her skills and attacks. When she has enough Flash Freeze Charge, Ellen Joe's attacks and skills are empowered to deal additional Ice DMG and inflict the Freeze status on enemies.
We can expect Ellen Joe to still utilise the Ice element as a Honkai: Star Rail character. Her kit being geared towards dealing damage and freezing enemies also likely mean she will follow the Path of Nihility.
Meanwhile, Astra Yao is a S-Rank Ether Support agent in Zenless Zone Zero. Astra Yao's kit lets her increase the ATK and Crit DMG of her teammates after entering the Idyllic Cadenza state. She also deals a considerable amount of damage on her own and as an assist ability when other squad members attack.
We can expect Astra Yao to fulfill a similar support role in Honkai: Star Rail as a character following the Path of Harmony. While there is no direct equivalent to the Ether element in Honkai: Star Rail, the Quantum element is the most similar among those in the game.
The collaboration will not only see Zenless Zone Zero characters coming to Honkai: Star Rail, but the other way around as well. HoYoverse is set to officially announce the Honkai: Star Rail character being added to Zenless Zone Zero as part of the collab in the latter's next version preview livestream.
