PGL Wallachia Season 6 preview: Top teams and storylines to watch out for

PGL Wallachia Season 6 will showcase the first post-TI appearance of China’s powerhouses, the debut of OG’s new lineup, and many more compelling storylines.

While plenty of high-profile events are scattered throughout the early 2025/2026 season, PGL Wallachia Season 6 arrives with its own set of unique narratives worth following.

The sixth edition of PGL’s Wallachia series marks PGL’s first tournament of the season. From 15 to 23 November, 16 teams will gather in PGL’s Bucharest studio to compete for a share of the US$1 million prize pool.

Invited teams include Tundra Esports, BetBoom Team, Heroic, Team Spirit, Team Liquid, PARIVISION, Nigma Galaxy, Team Tidebound, Yakult Brothers, GamerLegion, and Xtreme Gaming. Joining them from the qualifiers are Peru Rejects (Americas), MOUZ (Western Europe), Natus Vincere (Eastern Europe), Roar Gaming (China), and Team Aureus (Southeast Asia)–the latter recently acquired by OG.

The tournament sits between several other major million-dollar events–BLAST Slam IV, which concluded only five days ago on 7 November, and the upcoming DreamLeague Season 27. Yet PGL Wallachia stands out with its own intriguing narratives that promise to draw in Dota 2 fans.

At this event, we’ll see the debut of newly formed rosters, the return of two-time world champions OG with a fresh lineup, and the first outings of dominant Chinese teams since The International.

No Team Falcons opens the door for others

Team Falcons have been relentlessly dominant, carrying the prestige of world champions after their hard-fought victory in TI 2025’s finale last September. They reinforced their strength with a win at FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2 in October and a close second-place finish at BLAST Slam IV.

However, the team will not make an appearance at PGL Wallachia Season 6, likely declining the direct invite to prioritize rest. With the formidable green squad absent, new opportunities emerge–clearing the way for other teams to shine.

Xtreme and Tidebound begin their new season

The early season has felt somewhat incomplete. It’s because, since TI 2025 ended, the two Chinese juggernauts–Xtreme Gaming and Team Tidebound–have skipped events, likely taking necessary breaks and finalising their offseason shuffles.

Both teams shook the ground at TI 2025 with performances that exceeded expectations. Tidebound secured a Top 8 finish, while Xtreme went undefeated until the grand finals, ultimately taking second place after an intense five-game series against Falcons. After two months away from competition, both teams will finally make their return to competition–set to play at PGL Wallachia Season 6.

Their rosters, however, look different. Xtreme Gaming now fields Cheng “NothingToSay” Jin Xiang and the returning legend Xu “fy” Linsen. Many view this roster as even stronger than before—a fusion of the iconic 2018 and 2021 PSG.LGD lineups.

Tidebound’s shuffle is more modest. TI6 champion Zhang “Bach” Ruida has departed, with Kongbo “Niu” Li filling the offlane position. While Niu is a respected player with a third-place finish at TI 2021, he doesn’t yet match Bach's pedigree and experience. This made a lot of fans wonder if Tidebound can match their performance at TI, or if they’ll struggle to find early footing.

A new OG emerges

The legendary two-time back-to-back TI champions are back–but with a very different look. After prolonged struggles, OG made the shocking decision to drop its Western European roster and signed the all-Filipino lineup of Team Aureus. This roster had already qualified for PGL Wallachia Season 6 through the Southeast Asian qualifiers, outperforming regional mainstays like Execration and BOOM Esports.

With OG now backed by the passionate SEA fanbase, the organisation enters its first Tier 1 tournament since June. Many are eager to see whether OG’s pivot to Southeast Asia will pay off.

Newcomers take the stage

Several teams will be making their first ever appearance on Dota 2’s big stage.

GamerLegion is the latest major organisation to join Dota 2, acquiring the North American Apex Genesis stack, formerly of Wildcard. The roster earned respect last season by qualifying for TI 2025, but this will be their first outing under the GamerLegion banner. The players have voiced excitement and renewed commitment under the new organisation, and it’ll be exciting to see if the underdogs can pull off pleasant upsets.

Roar Gaming, China’s qualifier representative, enters the event as more of a mystery. Expectations are unclear, but the team does boast Major champion Jun Wen “JT-” Thiay, formerly Invictus Gaming’s offlaner who had won the ONE Esports Singapore Major and claimed a 4th-place finish at TI 2021.

More highly anticipated performances

Beyond these major storylines, several familiar arcs continue into PGL Wallachia Season 6.

MOUZ has quickly established itself as a top contender early in the season, recently upsetting Team Spirit at BLAST Slam IV to secure a Top 4 finish. Expectations for the team are now higher than ever.

Nigma Galaxy will debut a new carry player as Aybek “TA2000” Tokayev replaces Daniel Chan “Ghost” Kok Hong. His arrival creates a roster reminiscent of the PSG Quest lineup that shone from 2023 to 2024, placing Top 4 at the Bali Major, Top 8 at Riyadh Masters 2023, and Top 6 at Riyadh Masters 2024. The roster never quite broke into the top tier, eventually splitting across other major teams. PGL Wallachia will mark Nigma’s first official outing with their new carry after Ghost had stood in since February.

PARIVISION looks to rebound after a rough start to the season with a 9th–11th finish at FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2, while Tundra Esports hopes to maintain momentum following its strong victory at BLAST Slam IV.
