Team Falcons, Team Spirit, among direct invites for FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2

FISSURE has announced its lineup of direct invites for its first major Dota 2 event of the new season, set to take place next October.

Serbian tournament organiser FISSURE is gearing up to kick off the 2025-2026 Dota 2 competitive season. Its first major event of the new season, FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2, is scheduled to take place from 23 October to 2 November, 2025. While regional qualifiers are still underway, the organiser announced a high-profile lineup of directly-invited teams.

The second edition of the PLAYGROUND series will feature a bunch of top-tier teams, including the newly-crowned world champions Team Falcons, along with BetBoom Team, PARIVISION, Tundra Esports, Heroic, Nigma Galaxy, Team Liquid, Team Spirit, and Aurora Gaming.

This event marks one of the first appearances for these teams since The International 2025, which concluded just two weeks ago. However, team rosters have yet to be confirmed and are likely to change, as many professional players typically take breaks following the championship.

FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2 details

FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2 will be held as a LAN event at Belgrade’s Sava Center, with the final three days open to a live audience. A total of 16 teams will compete for a share of the US$1 million USD prize pool. So far, nine teams have been confirmed, with two more direct invites still to be announced, according to Liquipedia.

The regional qualifiers will determine the remaining five slots, with:

  • Two teams from Western Europe (WEU)
  • One from Eastern Europe (EEU)
  • One from Southeast Asia/China
  • One from the Americas

As of now, Runa Team from EEU is the only team to have claimed a spot in the tournament through regional qualifiers.

For fans looking to attend in person, FISSURE has launched ticket sales, with prices ranging from €8 to €120. The venue can accommodate up to 4,000 attendees. As usual, fans will have access to autograph sessions and the opportunity to purchase official merchandise on-site.

Scheduling conflict may lead to lineup changes

The new competitive season is off to a hectic start, with overlapping qualifiers and events occurring across the scene. Unfortunately, two Tier 1 tournaments, FISSURE PLAYGROUND 2 and BLAST Slam IV, are set to clash.

FISSURE’s event runs from October 23 to November 2 in Serbia, while BLAST Slam IV is scheduled from 14 October to 9 November in Singapore. Strangely, both events have announced overlapping team invites, meaning many teams will have to choose between the two. As a result, expect some changes to the final team lineup in the coming weeks.
