What to watch this week in Dota 2; PGL Wallachia Season 1 edition part II

What should you be watching in the Dota 2 scene this week? PGL Wallachia Season 1 continues and ends this week. 

PGL Wallachia Season 1 began on Friday, May 10th with the modified Swiss-system group stage. Over the weekend two teams lost their tournament lives – Azure Ray and Heroic

This week there are two more group stage days where another six teams will be eliminated. The remaining eight teams will then advance to the playoff stage.

The action resumes today at 09:00 CEST with nounsvsG2 x iG. The games are on a rolling schedule for the day. 

Team Secret and Team Liquid have a lot to prove and much on the line today if they hope to remain in the competition.

PGL Wallachia Season 1 Format

PGL will be hosting the whole event at their studios in Bucharest, Romania, from May 10 to 16th with no live audience. The 16 teams will start the competition in a modified "Swiss System" group stage that will feature five rounds of best-of-three series.

  • Group Stage - May 10 - May 15, 2024
    • One modified Swiss-system of sixteen teams
    • All matches are Bo3
    • Top eight teams advance to playoffs
    • Remaining teams are eliminated
  • Playoffs - May 16 - May 19, 2024
    • Double-elimination bracket
    • All matches except Grand Final are Bo3
    • Grand Final is Bo5

PGL Wallachia Season 1 Prize Pool

The $1,000,000 prize pool is spread among the participants

  • 2nd place $175,000
  • 3rd place $120,000
  • 4th place $80,000
  • 5th-6th place $60,000
  • 7th-8th place $40,000
  • 9th-11th place $20,000
  • 12th-14th place $15,000
