What should you be watching in the Dota 2 scene this week? PGL Wallachia Season 1 kicks off on May 10th with 16 top teams fighting for a piece of $1 million.
After a one-week lull in the top-tier competitive action of Dota 2, things are back in action.
PGL Wallachia Season 1 is the first event planned in a three-year plan from PGL that includes eight Dota 2 tournaments -- each with one million dollars on the line to be held across 2024, 2025, and 2026.
Season 1 is scheduled at the PGL Studios in Bucharest, Romania, from May 10th to 19th, 2024. A total of 10 teams received direct invites to this inaugural event based on their performances early in the year at various other tournaments. Regional qualifier winners filled the remaining six slots.

PGL Wallachia Season 1 dates and format
PGL will be hosting the whole event at their studios in Bucharest, Romania, from May 10 to 16th with no live audience. The 16 teams will start the competition in a modified "Swiss System" group stage that will feature five rounds of best-of-three series.
At the end of the group play, the top eight teams will advance to the playoffs. The playoffs stage will be played in a double elimination bracket, best-of-three series with the grand finals being a best-of-five battle for the title.
