ESL One Birmingham 2024 can make a difference for plenty of the teams that aim for a spot at the inaugural edition of Esports World Cup.
ESL One Birmingham 2024 is the second LAN tournament that is a part of the ESL Pro Tour Season 2 and besides the generous $1,000,000 prize pool it also has 26,640 EPT points to offer. The EPT points are extremely important as they make the difference between who will receive a direct invite to Riyadh Masters 2024, the Dota 2 tournament part of the over $60,000,000 Esports World Cup.
ESL Pro Tour was introduced last year and with Dota Pro Circuit put to rest by Valve this year, it became the biggest and the most important circuit for the Dota 2 scene. A championship title or a top placement at the tournaments part of the EPT can make a world of difference for the pro scene.
For instance, BetBoom Team are yet to win an EPT tournament, however, their consistency in making deep playoff runs at three ESL Pro Tour tournaments had them become the first team to lock in a ticket to the Esports World Cup.

A total of eight teams will get a direct invite to Riyadh Masters 2024, so seven more spots are up for grabs. There are two more EPT tournaments where teams can secure precious points and secure themselves a trip to the first edition of Esports World Cup.

The last EPT tournament that will count for a direct invite to Riyadh Masters 2024 is DreamLeague Season 23 which is set to unfold next month from May 20 to 26th.
Riyadh Masters 2024 will welcome 20 teams to Saudi Arabia’s capital this summer. Those who will fall short of a direct invite via EPT points will have to secure a spot via regional qualifiers which are expected to be held sometime in June.
