EG continue to run away with wins; Eliminate OG from ESL One Berlin Major

Despite putting up a hard fight with two stand-in players, OG's ESL One Berlin Major has come to an end at the hands of EG.

The playoff weekend of ESL One Berlin Major continued today, starting with another elimination series.

OG has still managed to reach the top 8 at the major despite competing with two stand-in players and without their coach available.

”Playing with stand-ins is something we are used to by now,“ said Artem "Yuragi" Golubiev to GosuGamers in an interview.

Evil Geniuses have just been on fire lately, riding on momentum and blowing through the competition.

The head-to-head series between these two was expected to be intense and it didn't disappoint.

OGvsEvil Geniuses 1:2

What a first game filled with back-and-forth thrills. OG seemed to have the upper hand and advantage for much of the game, but the tides were turned and EG was able to clinch the win rather unexpectedly.

In the second match, Evil Geniuses went with more AOE damage and a last-pick Bloodseeker. OG went with the Phantom Lancer. As much as the second game seemed to start out relatively even, EG couldn't extend their fights with the Bloodseeker as they hoped for because OG just fought so quickly and cleanly. Things then quickly got out of hand for EG with Phantom Lancer just overpowering them and the game was over in 35 minutes. OG's victory forced a highly coveted (for fans) Game 3.

Evil Geniuses' lineup was quite solid in the third game with run-and-kill heroes which they excel at and they grabbed a final pick Doom. By the 6-minute mark, EG was ahead by 3k in gold and had 7 kills on the board already - a very concerning matter for OG. Everything was really going in favor of EG, winning every lane and making kills around the map all the while Doom was scaling up. Twelve minutes in EG were ahead by 13k and OG's supports were mega under-leveled and too far behind.

OG just could never get a foot on the ground and 29 minutes later the series and their Major run was over.

OG goes home with a 5-6th place finish, $25,000, and 300 DPC points.

EG will continue along the lower brackets to face Team Liquid later today in another elimination series.
