Janne "Gorgc" Stefanovski just won Division I of the Dota Pro Circuit regional league without even playing it.
Gorgc is one of the biggest Dota 2 streamers on Twitch, with nearly 650 followers who tune in for his entertaining daily stream sessions. However, it wasn’t until last night that Gorgc would receive a $40,000 donation from a viewer.
When someone named Ali first donated $10K USD, Gorgc was just pretty upset. He just lost a game due to someone in his team griefing. After the lost game, he went on watching Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen to calm down or even possibly end the stream on a pretty disappointing note. The first ten thousand didn’t even pop a notification on stream.
“I don’t know if it has shown up yet. Did anyone see that?” Gorgc exclaimed caught completely by surprise by Ali donating $10K. A few moments later the same person went on donating another $10K with a song request and ended his generosity with a final $20,000. “Dude what am I even supposed to say? What am I supposed to say, chat? What am I actually supposed to say right now?” Gorgc continued to repeat being clearly still shocked by Ali’s donations.
Gorgc and his Team Bald Reborn are not a part of the Dota Pro Circuit in the Spring Tour anymore as they lost their spot in the previous Tour. Team Bald placed last in Division II of the Winter Tour and couldn’t bounce back via open qualifiers.
Nonetheless, for Gorgc this doesn’t mean that he needs to worry about his income, at least for a few months. While the best Team Bald could have earned via playing Division II matches would have been $17,000 for placing first, the generous donation from last night gives the player even more than what a team makes for placing in the first spot in Division I (which is $30,000).
