Virtus.pro releases Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev from the team before the end of his contract.
Virtus. pro have been extremely close to qualifying for The International 2022 (TI11) three times this year. Their first disappointment came at the Arlington Major, where they’ve been eliminated in the top 8, with what everyone, from fans to professional teams, believed to be enough DPC points to secure them a direct invite at TI11. Later on, when Valve revealed that they use a different method to calculate the DPC points, VP dropped to 13th place and were sent to regional qualifiers.
VP, competing under the Outsiders tag at that time, made an upper bracket run to the grand finals in the EEU regional qualifiers, only to lose it all 0-3 to BetBoom in the grand finals. Their last try was in the Last Chance Qualifiers, where they got defeated 2-0 by Team Secret in the upper bracket finals and by Team Liquid in the lower bracket finals.
In the aftermath of recent results, VP announced that although Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev’s contract with the organization is valid until the end of TI11, which is until the end of October 2022, the two parts “came to a mutual decision to cease cooperation.”
“Sometimes a group of highly skilled players does not add up to a strong team. Therefore, we made a joint decision to end our cooperation, fully confident that both parties will benefit from it,” said Virtus.pro in their official announcement.
Ramzes re-joined Virtus.pro only late in the 2022 DPC schedule, when VP kicked Ivan "Pure" Moskalenko from the team. His latest stint with VP lasted only a few months, during which he says “it felt good to go back to the familiar den, but now it’s time to move on.”
