The International 2022 qualifiers are set to begin in North America as the contenders and challengers go head-to-head for a ticket to Singapore.
TSM FTX reached the grand finals at their first-ever Major together in Stockholm. They started the playoffs seeded in the upper bracket courtesy of a third-place finish in Group B and had a perfect run to the grand finals. Their second-place result earned them 610 DPC points and through the league play landed them in 2nd place in the overall DPC rankings for the start of Tour 3. It was enough to secure an invite to The International 2022.
Evil Geniuses seem to have lost their footing and stronghold in the NA region, but they were able to still slip through with an invite for The International 2022 in the end —thanks in part to beastcoast's triumph over Fnatic at Arlington Major which secured them the invite after they narrowly missed it with their own elimination earlier.
The International 2022 NA qualifiers
12 teams will go head-to-head between September 8th through September 12th. Only one will claim a spot in the main event to join TSM.FX and Evil Geniuses. Two more teams will fly to Singapore for the offline Last Chance Qualifier.
Soniqs (formerly Quincy Crew) are the leaders of the pack, most expected to take the slot for The International. They took 18th place overall for the DPC season, falling short of enough points to secure an invite, and being forced into the regional qualifiers.
The team started out the DPC 2021-22 season strong. In Tour 1, they managed to come out on top of the league play securing 300 DPC points right out of the gate. However, in the regional finals, they took a disappointing third place, earning no additional points.
In the second tour, they narrowly missed out on attending the Stockholm Major.
But for the third tour, Soniqs came out in 2nd place headed to compete at Arlington Major. Without securing a single series win, the NA team became the first to be eliminated from the entire event and never got to step foot on the main stage.
Soniqs isn't the only team in the region that are contenders.
nouns have been the surprise package of the last tour of the DPC season. With unconventional picks and fast-paced lineups, the NA team has really been challenging even the best of their peers.
At the end of the tour, Evil Geniuses, Soniqs, and nouns found themselves tied together with a score of 6-1. Although nouns weren't able to secure a spot at the Major, they did earn massive support and respect and are likely to head to Singapore for at least the LCQ if not the main event.

The International 2022 qualifiers
At the end of the third tour, the top twelve teams by DPC points are directly qualified for The International 2022.
The remaining spots will be decided through regional qualifiers. All teams that participated in the third tour of the regional leagues have a chance to qualify through the regional qualifiers provided that they do not replace more than two players from their third tour's roster. As in the previous season, there will not be any Open Qualifiers. However, all Regional Leagues will have an Open Qualifier tournament for their Division II spots meaning that the third tour's open qualifiers will essentially act as TI Open Qualifiers.
In addition, on 22nd January 2022, it was announced that the second and third-place teams from each region's qualifiers will compete in the Last Chance Qualifier LAN event prior to The International to decide the final two qualification spots - thus expanding The International 2022 from 18 to 20 teams.
