Team Empire to play remaining DPC matches with Iceberg in mid lane

After dropping the first three matches in the Eastern Europe Division I League, Team Empire make a roster swap.

Sergiy "Shisui" Koren was benched inside the Team Empire roster in order to make space for Bogdan "Iceberg" Vasilenko, who will be playing the rest of the four Dota Pro Circuit matches left on the Regional League schedule in the Winter Tour.

Team Empire current roster

Alexander “lightless” Potapenko
Bogdan “Iceberg” Vasilenko (sub)
Andrii “Ghostik.” Kadyk
Sergey “SA” Timchenko
Oleh “Kaori” Medvedok
Shisui (benched)

Iceberg will join the action starting today, December 17, playing against none other than the TI10 champions. While Team Spirit are currently undefeated in the Eastern Europe Division I league, with an overall 4-0 game score, Team Empire sit in the bottom two places after losing to NAVI, PuckChamp and AS Monaco Gambit.

Per DPC rules, the teams are allowed to play four of their seven DPC matches with a substitute, however, adding Iceberg now and using him for the next 4 league series will force Team Empire to bring back Shisui in the eventuality of tiebreakers.

Until then, Team Empire’s confrontation with Team Spirit from today marks the last DPC match of 2021 for both squads. Team Spirit will play their first series of the new year on January 6, against ASM Gambit, while empire will enter the battle on the 7th of January when they will be pitted against Virtus.pro
