The second day of the group stage is over for ESL One Hamburg 2018 and EVOS esports has been the first to be eliminated from the event.

The group stage is now winding down with only a few series left to determine which four teams will go home early. EVOS esports stepped in during the witching hours when TNC Predator announced they would be withdrawing from ESL One Hamburg 2018 to participate in WESG 2018-2019 instead. It was a big opportunity for the Indonesian team to flex some muscle and get more exposure and experience on the pro scene, but they ended up being able to only take one match off of compLexity Gaming in the end.

Col is also in trouble, teetering on the edge of being eliminated themselves. Finally playing with their full lineup, the NA team looked strong starting out but quickly fell to top runners of their group Virtus.pro and Team Aster - the ladder still being undefeated in the group with an 8:0 record. compLexity's final series is against Ninjas in Pyjamas who is only one game ahead of them and a 2:0 sweep over the EU team could change coL's fate.

Alliance and Mineski are also on the chopping block going into today's games. Both teams have looked strong during online events and Mineski has even seized their first LAN title at RedBull Guardians event last week, but have struggled up to keep the lead or close out the game against their opponents in Germany. They will both need to sweep through their opponents today to even have a chance to fight for a place in the playoffs.

The action resumes today at 12:00 CEST with the last round of group A and then group B before moving on to the first round of the upper bracket playoffs.

ESL One Hamburg 2018 will have an expanded format featuring round robin groups and double elimination playoff brackets.

Group-stage Format:

  • Teams will be divided into two groups
  • Round robin two-game series
  • Top two teams each group will advance to playoffs Upper-Bracket
  • Bottom two teams each group will be eliminated

Main event format:

  • Double elimination bracket
  • All matches are 'Bo3'
  • Grand-final match will be 'Bo5'
