Due to the fact that HongDa 'Faith' Zeng’s passport is going to expire soon, and he is very likely unable to update the visa to Ukraine after finishing the current DreamLeague tournament, Newbee let go of the direct invite to StarLadder Invitational S5.
In Newbee's stead, VGJ. Thunder will be the alternative invite for China region as VGJ.T has had several outstanding performances during the previous Bucharest Major and GESC. Therefore, Na’Vi and VGJ.T will be the two direct invites to StarLadder Invitational S5. Currently, only Team Fnatic has qualified for the main event through the Southeast Asia Qualifiers, as the qualifiers for the other regions are still ongoing and the winners are yet to be determined.
StarLadder Invitational S5 is StarLadder and i-League's third and final Minor of the 2017-2018 season; eight teams will be divided into two groups of four teams each where they will then play in a double-elimination (GSL) format of Bo3. The top two teams from each group will then advance to the playoffs. As is standard for minors in the Pro Circuit system, the prize pool of the tournament is $300,000 USD along with 300 DPC points. Starladder will be held in Kiev from April 11th to April 15th.
