The American qualifiers of StarLadder XII are now over, with Team Tinker taking down Wheel Wreck While Whistling in three games in the grand finals. Through their victory, they are the first team to earn a ticket to April's offline finals at DreamHack Bucharest.
The 12th season of StarLadder is well under way, as we are slowly reaching the end of the online phase of the tournament. The American regional qualifiers have just concluded, with Team Tinker emerging victorious from the double-elimination playoff bracket. Team Tinker is the first team to reach the LAN finals of StarLadder XII, scheduled to take place at DreamHack Bucharest from April 24th through 26th.
Team Tinker did not have an easy task in the grand finals against Wheel Wreck While Whistling, as the runner-up squad had a solid performance despite playing six consecutive games. With the help of the stand-in Mike 'ixmike88' Ghannam and the solid Clockwerk-Omniknight combo, Wheel dominated the second game of the series for a 26-minute victory. However, Clockwerk determined the outcome of the third match as well, as the flashy Hookshots of Sam 'BuLba' Sosale created enough space for Max 'qojqva' Broecker and his Naga Siren to farm a game-winning Radiance in 16 minutes.
The Chinese qualifiers are also about to conclude, with iG, LGD, NewBee and ViCi Gaming fighting over two LAN spots. The first representative will be determined tomorrow, after the Upper Bracket final between iG and LGD at 13:00 CET. As for the European and SEA qualifiers, the remaining matches of the first qualifier phase will be played this week, with the top-two teams of each group advancing to the double elimination bracket of the playoffs.
