Joindota MLG League's European divisions are virtually settled. Except for the fact that they are not. Small changes in the coming results can determine who gets the direct qualification and who would get to play the decider.
It is getting tight and sweaty in the two European groups as there are only two important matches remaining. Merely the top finisher of each group qualifies directly for the main event in Columbus, USA whereas the second placers will have to play each other to settle the third European team going. Teams finishing third or below stand without further chance.
During the span of the tournament, Team Tinker has changed their roster from a European majority to an American majority and back again to European, seeing multiple players come and go but still delivered decent results in the tournament. However, during the moment of truth yesterday they fell short to underdogs Balkan Bears, thus finishing without reach of a plane ticket. Would they have beaten Balkan Bears 2-0, they would have at the very least finished second.
Balkan Bears themselves are currently resting at the peak, enjoying the view. However their rest is not the most comfortable as established 2015-hit Hellraisers are trailing just behind them. Hellraisers will get their chance early next week when they go up against Alliance. Should they beat the Swedes 2-0, Hellraisers will claim the pole position and a draw is enough to force a tiebreaker match with the Bears.
The other 2015-hit team Ninjas in Pyjamas have blazed through the season without mercy, only dropping one single game so far (to fellow Swedes in GameOnline). Empire are looking to challenge the lead however. On contrary to the Hellraisers case in Group A, Empire would actually need to win their last game 2-0 to do so though. And that would only result in a tied score and force a final showdown tiebreaker with the Ninjas. And who do Empire play in their last deciding regular match? None other than the Ninjas themselves, the Swedes thus control their own fate. The match is played tomorrow at 16.00 CET, should there be a tiebreaker it would be played right after the regular match.
If Empire loses 2-0, they would have to take on Moscow Five in a tiebreaker for second place to determine who would get to play the decider against Group A's runner-up.
Worth pointing out is that ASUS.Polar forfeited the division before they even played a single game. Group B also had a drop-out in Sqreen's Squad who dropped out after having played three matches. The $85,000 event takes place in Columbus, United States April 10 - 12. Find out everything about the event here such as standings, teams and VODs.
