Evil Geniuses first to qualify for MLG finals

After rolling through the American competition, EG will be the first team booking their tickets to Columbus, Ohio to compete at the MLG Pro League Season One LAN Finals at MLG Arena. NoT are likely tobe the other team qualifying, but a mistake could give either paiN or Wheel a shot at the championship's $75,000 prize pool.

With season one of the joinDota MLG Pro League international qualifiers winding down, the first team to move on to the LAN finals at MLG Arena in Columbus, Ohio is Evil Geniuses. The recently crowned Dota Asia Champions were able to replicate their success back home, securing their spot at the championships with a 2-0 victory over a Summoner's Rift squad that fittingly featured Team Secret's Artour 'Arteezy' Babaev, Kuro 'Kuroky' Salehi Takhasomi, and Theeban '1437' Siva. EG dropped only two of their qualifier games, competing on a different level than most of the other teams in the league, adding some weight behind Captain Peter 'ppd' Dager's earlier comments that EG's involvement in qualifiers has a stifling effect on the growth of the NA scene.

The battle for the Americas' second seat at MLG Arena hinges on how Not Today fares against Complexity Gaming. If Freddy 'Smash' Sina and his team can take both matches, they will have secured their place at the finals. A crucial loss, however, could pave the way for either PaiN Gaming or Wheel Whreck While Whistling to win out and snatch that second spot from under the Peruvians.

The next American qualifier match for the MLG Pro League will be EG vs. Complexity Gaming on Tuesday, March 10th at 23:00 CEST. All coverage will be provided by joinDota and MLG.tv.
