In the opening games of the Dota Pit group stage Ninjas in Pyjamas have a narrow lead in Group A while Team Secret are in clear control of their Group B opponents. There are still a total of 21 matches left to be played before the playoff places are decided.
Two weeks have passed since the beginning of the group stages but only nine matches have actually taken place between the groups and just three in Group A. The group has had Swedish team Ninjas in Pyjamas in action against both Cloud 9 and Team Fire before their withdrawal from the tournament. They were able to claim three points from an available four with a draw against Cloud 9 keeping them from maximum points. Elsewhere in the group ASUS.Polar claimed a solid two-game victory over the new roster of Team Tinker to sit a point just below Ninjas in Pyjamas. The group matches are scheduled to continue with Evil Geniuses beginning their Dota Pit campaign against Cloud 9 on March 1st while Cloud 9 will be hoping to pick up points in their matches later that week against Team Tinker and ASUS.Polar.
Things have definitely been more active in the second group and Team Secret are the dominant force in the opening games after winning two of their opening four games and leading the rest of the group by four points. They were able to defeat Virtus Pro and Vega Squadron but were recently forced to settle for draws against Team Empire and Hellraisers. With all of the teams competing in at least one match, the board is suprisingly even with most of the teams stuck with a single point and only Secret and Empire above them. But Vega Squadron and Virtus Pro are struggling with only a single point from an available four. Their only points came from draws against Alliance and Team Empire. Team Empire will be looking to secure more points as they take on Vega Squadron on March 2nd.
