With a 2-1 victory against Empire, HellRaisers secured the second spot in the UB finals of the European qualifiers against Power Rangers. Na'Vi and VP.Polar returned to victories in the Lower Bracket, eliminating Team Tinker and Virtus.pro in their respective matches.
Four matches were played today for the European qualifiers of DAC, ending the tournament journey for two participants. The day opened with Empire taking down VP.Polar and concluding the first round of best-of-three matches of the Upper Bracket. However, the Russian squad could not overpower their compatriots HellRaisers, who used a solid push-strategy in the third match to advance to the UB final. There, they will fight Power Rangers for the first grand final spot.
The four losers of the first round - Team Tinker, Natus Vincere, VP.Polar and Virtus.pro - had to fight for survival today in the first two matches of the Lower Bracket. Na'Vi managed to return to victories against a rather disappointing Team Tinker, using two similar strategies based on high physical damage. While Alexander 'XBOCT' Dashkevich showed an impressive performance on his Troll Warlord, it was Ilya 'IllidanSTR' Pevcaev that really stood out in today's matches - especially with his dominant Tiny gameplay. The Russian carry player showed his true strength against his former squad Virtus.pro, kicking them off the tournament with zero victories in four games.
The matches continue tomorrow with the CIS derby between Empire and NaVi opening the day at 13:00 CET. Alliance and VP.Polar will cross their swords at 16:00 CET, and the winners of the two matches will battle for a spot in the Lower Bracket final. Power Rangers will take on HellRaisers at 19:00 CET to become the first grand finalist of the European qualifiers. Live broadcasting of the matches will be provided by BeyondTheSummit and SLTV.
