Alliance and Cloud9 drop out of D2L

Just a little over a week into the Western Division, two teams are pulling out of the HyperX D2L Season 5. Alliance and Cloud9 will not be attending, citing reasons ranging from roster changing to scheduling conflicts.

The HyperX D2L Season 5 has seen no end of issues with teams, as two more have decided to pull out of the tournament. Starting with Vici Gaming and Newbee about three weeks ago, Alliance and Cloud9 both will be dropping out for two very different reasons.

Starting off with Alliance who have decided that they need to review internally at some critical roster concerns that have arisen recently. Alliance has been having issues in tournaments lately, and following their loss at the XMG Captain's Draft Invitiational just yesterday are looking to make a change within themselves before they procede on with any new tournaments. Originally they had planned to participiate, and merely reschedule some of their matches. This did not come to fruition however and both Alliance as well as the D2L administration agreed that it would be best for both parties if Alliance pulled out.

Cloud9 on the other hand has been citing scheduling conflicts. Their mananger Conrad Janzen had this say:
'The Cloud 9 Dota 2 roster will not be participating in the remainder of the Dota 2 League Season Five after a long discussion with the team about the upcoming tournament schedule and specifically the conflict with the i-League LAN. The players understand that they must be selective with their tournament qualifier scheduling as well as not put anyone in a position where the team would qualify but decline the LAN event. Cloud 9 would like to thank D2L and our fans for being very accommodating and understanding of our situation.'

The directors of the D2L tournament will not be replacing these teams, and will simply reduce the number of participants in the Western Division down to six. As mentioned earlier, this is not the first time a team has decided to drop out of the tournament, as three weeks ago Newbee pulled out citing very similar issues to Cloud9. In that particular case however, they ended up being replaced by DK. As for the Western Division, Team Secret also recently pulled out of the event before playing any of their matches. Much like Newbee and C9, scheduling conflicts prevented the European powerhouse from participating and they were replaced by Sneaky Nyx Assassins.
