WCA Day 1 - Alliance and C9 advance, VG dominant

The first day of the WCA tournament as concluded and the Western teams Cloud 9 and Alliance both won their matches, whereas Natus Vincere fell to Newbee. In the fourth match of the day, Vici Gaming continued their dominating streak and took out iG 2-0.

A lot of issues accompanied the first day of WCA. Delays and an Internet outage at the BeyondTheSummit studio caused a little bit of chaos, but the teams still played out some good Dota. The day kicked off with two matches at the same time. Natus Vincere took on TI4 champions Newbee and Cloud 9 faced off against LGD-Gaming. C9 emerged victorious after a tense 2-1 match, whereas Na'Vi fell short to the Chinese.

Following both matches was the clash between Alliance and the newly, officially formed Team Malaysia around former Team DK player Yee Fung 'Mushi' Chai. The Swedes however showed that they were no pushover and took their adversaries down 2-0. The final match of the day was yet again a fight between Vici Gaming and Invictus Gaming. Out of the last five encounters, Vici decided four of them in their favor and the recent form indicated that they would continue that series and they did. VG emerged victorious with a 2-0 record, moving on to the next round.

Tomorrow the action is set to continue with Newbee vs. Cloud 9, followed by Vici Gaming vs. Alliance. The lower bracket is set to play out last with LGD-Gaming facing off against Na'Vi and finishing off with iG taking on Team Malaysia. Considering it is a LAN event, the schedule may or may not change on short notice.
