EGM and s4 depart Alliance officially

Jerry 'EGM' Lundkvist and and Gustav 's4' Magnusson are no longer members of the Swedish squad Alliance. The organization's announcement just confirmed what we already suspected, as both EGM and s4 have been playing for new squads since early August.

The all-Swedish roster of Alliance that managed to win The International 3 now belongs to the past, as the organization has officially released their former mid player and captain Gustav 's4' Magnusson, along with one of their two supports, Jerry 'EGM' Lundkvist. The two players have been playing for new squads (Secret Team and Team Tinker respectively) and their departure seemed only a matter of time. While it has not been confirmed yet, it seems that Rasmus 'Chessie' Blomdin and Rasmus 'MiSeRy' Filipsen will be replacing s4 and EGM in the new Alliance roster.

s4 was one of the founding members of the NoTidehunter squad, while EGM joined in early 2013 replacing Jacky 'EternalEnvy' Mao. The now all-Swedish roster (later picked up by Alliance) was one of the most dominant teams of that year, earning the gold medal in over ten major tournaments including G1-League, Star Series V, VI and DreamHack Summer 2013. Their most notable achievement was the first-place in The International 3, after a thriller 3-2 victory in the finals against Natus Vincere. However, their performance seemed to deteriorate in 2014, leading up to their premature elimination in The International 4. Their 11/12th place finish in the tournament was one of the main reasons of today's roster change.

While the ending of the Alliance story was rather bitter, the 2013 roster will always be remembered as one of the most successful in professional DotA2. It remains to be seen whether the two players will manage to reach as many goals with their new teams this year.
