RoX.KIS player contracts expire, DotA2 team to disband soon

The DotA2 squad of RoX.KIS will cease to represent the club in the following months, as the players' contracts have expired as of June 2014 and will not be renewed. The players will still carry the RoX.KIS banner until the conclusion of the tournaments they have entered.

Today marks the end of the DotA2 division of the Russian club RoX.KIS, one of the most historic teams in competitive DotA. The last squad's inability to qualify for The International 4 was the nail in the coffin for their collaboration with the club, as their contacts have just expired and they will not be renewed. Goblak and his buddies will still represent RoX.KIS in the playoffs of DotA2 Champions League and D2L Western Challenge, but they will officially be teamless after the tournaments' conclusion.

The statement of RoX.KIS manager Dennis 'PoDoX' Pestretzoff :

Hello everyone! The contracts with the players expired and after some talks with the players, we decided to part ways. They will play with our tag for the last two remaining tournaments where they reached play-offs – D2LWC and D2CL, and then they will make a decision about their future on their own. As for us, RoX.KiS organization: we decided to take a break until the end of The International 4, freezing everything concerned Dota 2 division. We want to thank all players without exception for their hard work and wish them good luck in the future! Special thanks to those, who rooted for us and supported our team, we sincerely thank you!

The RoX.KIS tag first appeared in competitive DotA back in 2009, but it was not until January 2013 that RoX.KIS decided to venture in the world of DotA2. Despite a troublesome premier year (including the match-fixing scandal caused by Alexey 'Solo' Berezin), the team managed to reach the top-three places in several competitions, including the silver medal in EMS One Katowice 2013. After the conclusion of The International 3, the RoX.KIS roster changed almost every month until February 2014, with Solo replacing Roman 'Scandal' Sadotenkov. It was then that the team found the desired stability, which lead to their most prestigious tournament victory in the second season of Fragbite Masters. RoX.KIS managed to reach the TI4 European Qualifiers, storming through the groupstage without dropping a single game. Nonetheless, two consecutive play-off defeats against Mouz and Virtus.Pro resulted in the team's unexpected elimination.

The statement of Arthur 'Goblak' Kostenko, the team's former captain :

In the near future we plan to finish the team's remaining tournaments and then relax away from action, making a small break. I do not know what the future holds for our gaming career and I will not promise anything. Thanks to the team RoX.KIS and our fans for their support!

We have no information about the future of the five free agents released from RoX.KIS. However, it is safe to assume that they will try their luck once again after the end of The International 4. In the meantime, they have all the time they need to discover new solid strategies, like they have done in the past.

The former RoX.KIS squad:

Ukraine Arthur 'Goblak' Kostenko
Russia Alexey 'Solo' Berezin
Russia Vladimir 'yol' Basov
Russia Vadim 'Sedoy' Musorim
Russia Stanislav 'BzzIsPerfect' Glushan
