WPC-ACE East : iG claims first victory, LGD holds DK to a draw

After losing their debut match against Titan, Invictus Gaming bounced back with a 2-0 victory against Orenda and a 1-1 draw versus NewBee. On the other match, LGD was able to take the exciting second game off the heavy favorite in DK to force a draw.

Another week is over for the WPC-ACE Eastern Division, with three more games being played. Titan is still leading the race with 11 points, but they only have one game remaining in the regular season. This means that they must defeat their fellow Malaysians, Orange eSports, to make sure their lead is secure. On the other hand, ViCi Gaming is second with a 100% winrate in their four games. Thus, they seem like a very strong candidate for a playoff spot.

This week, the matches started with DK facing LGD. The first game was a symphony of skill for the maestro MuShi, with a 14-2 ending score in 43 minutes. However, DK opted for a very unconventional strategy in Game Two, with support Meepo and Ember Spirit and Viper cores. LGD got their hands on a massive teamfight line-up, and were able to drag the game long enough for Rabbit's Morphling to get very beefy. In the end, MuShi had to build a Divine Rapier twice to penetrate LGD's defenses, but it was still not enough to stop them. (DK 1 - 1 LGD)

Invictus Gaming took on Orenda for the second match of the day, claiming their first 2-0 victory in WPC-ACE league. Orenda showed some solid resistance in Game One, but they were unable to restrict Ferrari_430's Invoker and YYF's Lifestealer, forcing a 32 minute GG. The second game was a massive stomp for iG, with Ferrari going rampant on his Ember Spirit, and ChuaN showing his force with Mirana. The final score was 30-7 in favor of iG, with Orenda having zero chances of coming back into the second game of the best-of-two series. (iG 2 - 0 Orenda)

The final match of the night was between NewBee and iG, with NewBee trying to grab another victory in their quest to catch up with ViCi Gaming and Titan. However, they attempted to run a massive early-game pushing strategy for the first game, and got stopped by Luo and his Axe, buying enough time for Ferrari_430 to overwhelm NewBee with his farm. Nonetheless, they paid more attention to their drafting in Game Two, with Hao showing his teeth with a formidable 10-1 Morphling performance, backed up by Xiao8's solid Dark Seer and Banana's Chen. (iG 1 - 1 NewBee)

The matches are scheduled to continue on April 18th, April 19th and April 20th, with a total of eight matches to be held in the week. All the Chinese participants but Orenda, DK and iG will get their playtime, with Tongfu.Wanzhou having four matches scheduled. The teams will have the chance to grab some valuable points in their best-of-two clashes, aiming for one of the top six positions that lead to the playoffs.
