Team Liquid is the last team to enter the regional playoffs of Star Series America, after the three tie-breaker matches that took place today. They will be joining Evil Geniuses, Revenge eSports and Team Dog in the battle for a ticket to Kiev.
With a surprise move, Osiris decided to forfeit their position in the tie-breakers for the last regional playoff spot of Star Series America. Their absence would normally disolve the tie between the remaining three competitors, as CNB had defeated both Team Liquid and Team eHug during the season. However, since the tie-breaker was already announced and scheduled, the tournament managers stuck with the original plan, and the three teams battled each other.
The tie-breaker matches were decisive, and Team Liquid stepped up their game to emerge victorious against both their opponents. Team eHug managed to defeat CNB, but their loss to Liquid resulted in their elimination. The Brazilian challengers CNB were defeated in both their matches, and they went from being the 'rightful' team to advance to getting disqualified.
With Liquid's advancement, the four spots of the regional playoffs are fully covered. The matches will begin on March 30th, with EG facing Liquid at 22:00 CET. Revenge will take on Team Dog the following day, at 02:00 CET. Both matches will be best-of-three. The winner of the regional playoffs will secure a spot in the LAN finals of Kiev.
