MiSeRy responds to Ruru's interview

The following is a statement by Rasmus 'Misery' Filipsen to Jie 'Ruru' Pan in response to the interview posted by China Electronic Athletes. The statement has not been edited by GosuGamers.

Dear Ruru and LGD,

First of all I would like to thank you for the great possibility that was offered to me representing a well known organisation as LGD.

As it is with new things, plans never go the way you expect them to go. And so it was with LGD.Int. I honestly feel sad to see an interview carried out around your expectations and feelings towards the LGD.Int project. The reason it makes me sad is that I feel that we never had a proper evaluation together that would allow both parts in this story to understand our different perspectives and learn from our common mistakes and misunderstandings.

I had an interview with gosugamers about my departure from LGD.int just when I came back home, and I hadnt put my mind to it at the time, so it wasnt very well spoken and it wasnt the whole truth as the whole thing was much deeper than just the mentioned "lack of tournaments" so I want to ask you to keep in mind, that the whole thing is way more complicated and please try to look at it from an understanding mind.

The interview with Ruru indicates very well what has been one of the problems with LGD.int and Ruru: communication problems and misunderstandings. I dont want to make a big deal out of it, because what happened, happened. But I just want to clear some things out as some stuff has come to light very wrong.

The most disturbing thing about this interview to me is about Ducky and how misunderstood this was. Ducky was never meant to be a coach Dota wise. The guy has been studying teamwork, teambuilding and whatever comes with that ever since he quit dota. He asked me if we needed some help fixing the internal problems within the team and as we were about to kill each other at the time, I thought it was a good idea. The whole team and I took it to Ruru, but the communication was problematic and it was hard to explain the idea of teambuilding and that it was for the friendship and trust that he was meant for. After some talk, she agreed to pay for the ticket, even though I offered to pay the ticket myself. Of course, he is my friend through many years and I could be biased, but I think anyone in the team at the time can agree that he did help us out a lot, so much that each member of the team put out their own money to bring him to Seattle, TI3. Obviously the result at the tournament wasnt at all satisfying, but that had nothing to do with Ducky's presence.

About our work ethics. One thing is that even though Pajkatt and I disliked and found the static schedule system unneccesary (6 days a week, 14-22, practise). We almost always followed the system and always worked hard to make things work, we spent so much energy, not only on the game, but with internal social problems as well as the communication issues.

It was and it is, insanely hard to make it work, 5 foreigners from 5 different countries living in China in the same house every day, with no purpose besides of DotA.
Just so that this is understood as my intention. For people comparing this to a normal full time job, this is not a normal daily fulltime job. You simply cant compare it, we are living together, eating together, playing together and there is nothing else. To have a static schedule like that does NOT work in the long run. Maybe for chinese, because they are in their home country, they have family, friends and their normal invironment, but for 5 foreigners, NO WAY. This was what Pajkatt and I were trying to tell Ruru, but how could we solve it and make it better for everyone? It was a dilemma and we tried the best we could. My opinion now, is that gaming houses are not for permanent living, but merely a place for bootcamps and part time living perhaps.

I do agree that it was a big mistake to return to China, and it was a joke, but both parties were involved in making this mistake, and as much as Team LGD.int #2 werent thought through, neither was it by the LGD Staff. It felt like from the beginning that it was a mistake, but ofcourse we were gonna do our best.
Eventually internal problems with our differences as people became too big and Pajkatts had to go home cause of visa issues, so I decided to leave the team. It was truly a really hard decision for me to be egoistic as I promised Ruru to play WPC ACE for LGD.int, But the break between the groupstage and playoff was very long. I missed home a lot and felt there was no other choice for me.

Thanks for reading guys, Im looking very much forward to a great dota year of 2014 and I wish LGD and the other of my former teammates in LGD.int good luck in the future and thanks once again for the ride, the memories and I hope we all have learned alot from this experience, I have.
