16 Teams have made it through the first groupstages of the Fragbite Masters as competition heats up. The second groupstage will continue next week, as the teams will be further whittled down to eight before heading into the playoffs, which are set to begin on November the 10th.
Among the surprising upsets were that Stay Free and Terrible Terrible Damage managed to edge out both Evil Geniuses and the Quantic lineup in Group D. Further adding to the despair of the big name North American teams was the defeat of Team Dignitas in Group H, falling out of the group in fourth place while unknown Danish team My Carry Can't Be This Kawaii took second place after Ahead.Kz, former Next.kz. Finally RoX.KIS came up short in Group E, as a surprising hehe united took the top billing in the group ahead of Super Strong Dinosaurs.
Other surprising turns of events included the fact that Virtus.Pro managed to take first place in Group F, ahead of Speed Gaming. This came about as Speed Gaming were forced to forfeit their opener due to other obligations, causing them to drop down into the losers match and allowing Virtus.Pro to proceed to the group win after two fairly easy opponents. Speed Gaming then turned things around in the losers bracket and ended up clenching the second spot, leaving the Danes of Gabe Pls who should have been their first round opponents in third place.
Games will continue next week, with the second groupstage starting up again on the 28th of October. Coverage for the event will continue to be provided by the GD Studio crew through the Fragbite Masters stream. We will bring you further information on the groups as they are released.
