Counter-Strike 2 first-ever Major held by PGL

First Counter-Strike 2 Major to be held by PGL next year in Copenhagen

Fans have one year to plan their 2024 vacations and sort out their travel plans for the first-ever Counter-Strike 2 Major.

Denmark's capital city, Copenhagen, will play host for the tournament next year. Royal Arena will welcome players and fans from around the world March 17-31, 2024 to witness live who will become the first team to win a Counter-Strike 2 Major.

Despite Denmark being one of the countries that constantly delivers some of the best CS:GO players, and although Royal Arena has hosted several BLAST tournaments in the past few years, the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 will be the first Major to be held on Danish soil.

"One of the greatest games of all time is marching to another chapter, and we couldn't be happier to host probably the most important Major of the franchise in recent years. Denmark has a rich esports heritage, and we are excited to bring the world's best Counter-Strike teams to Copenhagen to compete for the game's most prestigious title. Our ambition for PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 is to break the game's all-time viewership records." - Silviu Stroie, PGL CEO

Earlier this week, Valve announced that the upcoming Paris Major will be the last Major of 2023, and the last one played on the current CS:GO game version. Although there won’t be a second Major in 2023, the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 prize pool will remain at $1,250,000.

PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 will feature the world's top 24 Counter-Strike 2 teams and the organizers announced that ticket sale will be available soon.

Counter-Strike 2 was officially revealed on March 22, 2023, and it was confirmed to be released sometime in the summer of this year. Until the official launch date, Valve are running a Limited Test phase where players are invited “based on a number of factors deemed important by the Counter-Strike 2 development team, including (but not limited to) recent playtime on Valve official servers, trust factor, and Steam account standing.”
