Evil Geniuses brings wiz into the first team

The new EG squad will make its debut in a few days.

After making a handful of changes midway through last season, Evil Geniuses will be making one more change, introducing Jerric "wiz" Jiang into the fold. Formerly of the organisation's academy team EG Black, wiz will be taking up AWPing for the squad. EG will be debuting its team at the upcoming BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2023.

Wiz has been showing signs of elevated progress in EG Black and had built a name for himself in the North American scene before joining the boys in the blue. His promotion to the team came after EG parted ways with Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov, who was with the team since the tail-end of 2019.

The team has had an inconsistent run over the past few years with plenty of mixed results in the process. EG finished in the bottom three at last year's Spring Groups followed by a quarterfinal exit at the Spring American Showdown. The same thing also happened in the Fall Split.

For a team that used to represent some of the biggest names in NA CS:GO, it has failed to live up to its hype thus far. But with the addition of wiz into the mix, here's to hoping EG can change their fortunes around come January 19. The boys in blue will kick off their BLAST Premier campaign in group A versus Heroic while Team Vitality and Astralis take up the other half of the bracket.

It is still early days after all on what EG can hope to accomplish. It's going to be a long road ahead for the team to find their playstyle and to function cohesively.
