Qi and Thunder Media to host the Qi Invitational

The $75,000 LAN will take place from April 6-8 in Serbia.

Qi and Thunder Media Entertainment are working together to host the Qi Invitational, which will bring together four of the best European and four of the best Souteast Asian teams.

The eight teams will be divided into two groups of four, where they'll kick off the tournament with a best of one match. From there, the winners continue on with another best of one while all elimination and decider matches turn into best of three's. After that, there is a single elimination, best of three playoffs.

First place will go home with $45,000, while second takes $20,000 of the pot and third walks away with $10,000. To help spice things up, each European vs Asian team match will have a bonus $1,000 standalone prize.

According to Thunder Media - the English broadcaster for the event - the tournament's main objective is not only to help expose the home market to more CS:GO, but to also showcase the talent that Asia can provide in FPS esports.

"Qi recognizes the huge skill disparity between Asian Counter Strike from the rest of the world," Thunder Media wrote in the press release annoucing the event. "With the Qi Invitational, this is a great chance for Asian teams to test their trade against the powerhouse continent of Europe."

Streams will be available in English, Chinese and Russian.
