DreamHack Valencia 2017 - Participants list finalised

The final two contestants to perform at the LAN finals in Valencia have been confirmed, following the conclusion of the two regional qualifiers.

Last night saw the conclusion of the European and North American closed qualifiers for DreamHack Valencia 2017, where we saw NRG Esports and Red Reserve take first place and consequently secure the sole LAN finals placements each region offered. Said feat was accomplished at the expense of the Brazil Luminosity Gaming and Europe Team LDLC, who lost with a 2:0 and 2:1 map score, respectively. The two teams will now join the six prior confirmed teams in Valencia, Spain this July to determine the team that will be taking half of the massive $100,000 prize pool.

Reminiscent of previous DreamHack Open events, Valencia will see a best-of-one group stage, followed by double elimination, best-of-three elimination and decider matches. Play-offs will feature single-elimination, best-of-three matches exclusively.

The finalised participants list for DreamHack Valencia 2017 is as follows:

United States Counter Logic GamingUnited States Misfits
France Team EnVyUsSweden Ninjas in Pyjamas
Denmark HeroicSpain KPI Gaming
North America NRG EsportsSweden Red Reserve

The North American grand final saw a rather lopsided performance, whereby NRG kept it short and sweet by crushing Luminosity 16:12 on de_Cache, followed by a breeze on de_Mirage at 16:5. As a matter of fact, NRG Esports managed to demonstrate a consistently flawless performance throughout the closed qualifier, as the team didn't drop a single map over its entirety. Red Reserve found themselves in a similar situation, however the Swedes ended up losing a map to Team LDLC in the grand final. The European qualifier was significantly closer than it's North American counterpart, as Team LDLC managed to secure the first map, de_Overpass with a dominant 16:7 score. Red Reserve followed up with a close 16:12 victory on de_Mirage, followed by a more convincing one on de_Inferno, that saw a 16:8 score line.
