Ninjas in Pyjamas have secured the services of William "draken" Sundin in place of Jacob "pyth" Mourujärvi, who will now act as a substitute.
Ninjas in Pyjamas have announced roster changes in light of their recent bad form. For a while now the highlight of the team's performance was their victory at Intel Extreme Masters XI - Oakland, where the Swedes managed to secure first place over the Brazilian SK Gaming. Whilst this was no mean feat and the team indeed showed great potential, following this performance everything went downhill, with consistent shortcomings in placements.
ECS Season 2 European division saw an 8th place finish, where the team didn't make it out of the group stage, and during the LAN finals of ELEAGUE Season 2 the team was unable to produce results, falling to future major title holders, Astralis. Following ECS, we saw the offline ELEAGUE Major qualifiers, where a disappointing 2-16 loss was conceded to Vega Squadron. More recently, the team was once again beaten by Astralis during the quarter-finals of DreamHack Masters: Las Vegas 2017 in a two map sweep. Lastly, the Swedes were ejected from the race at Intel Extreme Masters XI - Katowice 2017, where they were unfortunately unable to get past the group stage.
Ninjas in Pyjamas' coach, Björn “threat” Pers expressed the following regarding the addition:
The aforementioned string of results lead to the decision to reass the roster. A particular issue raised by NiP's coach, Björn "threat" Pers, indicated that the team had been looking for a full-time AWPer. Apparently the best fit for the team was none other than William "draken" Sundin, ex-member of Epsilon eSports. The 21 year old Swede will be replacing Jacob "pyth" Mourujärvi, who is now a substitute player for the Ninjas. Over his career in CS:GO, draken has been the highlight of many frag reels, boasting a strong AWPing performance.
The following was said by Sundin upon signing with NiP:
Following the addition of William "draken" Sundin, Ninjas in Pyjamas' roster looks as follows:
Richard "Xizt" Landström
Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg
Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund
Adam "friberg" Friberg
William "draken" Sundin
Jacob "pyth" Mourujärvi (substitute)
Björn "threat" Pers (coach)
