Following numerous rumours of a French shuffle it turned out to be true, with G2 Esports securing a strong French roster.
It has been revealed that Dan "apEX" Madesclaire, Nathan "NBK" Schmitt and Kenny "kennyS" Schrub will be joining G2 Esports effective immediately, replacing Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom, Cédric "RpK" Guipouy and Edouard "SmithZz" Dubourdeaux. The future of the prior two players is to be announced, as per Team EnVyUs' tweet, whilst Edouard "SmithZz" Dubourdeaux will be transferring to a coaching role on G2 Esports, working on the tactical aspect of the team with G2's head analyst, Niclas "enkay J" Krumhorn.
Following the signing founder and CEO of G2 Esports, Carlos "ocelote" Rodriguez Santiago expressed:
Team captain of G2 Esports, Richard Papillon said:
This resulted in a delicate situation. The level of CS increases every day, I am a competitor and I will never be satisfied with second place. To win today, we must work with rage and passion on a daily basis, and always seek to excel, especially in difficult times. And we lacked these qualities in the second half of 2016.
With a team and a coaching staff of this quality, our objectives are clearly to win, and especially to remain strong when we come across adversities. We have the ambition to put an end to the lack of stability of the French scene. We think we have the best elements to achieve our goals, and our hard work will help us along this journey.
I want to praise the difficult and honorable decision made by SmithZz. He is a great person and an extraordinary player who competed at the highest level for 10 years. SmithZz is a legend, and I am honored to have him behind us. This is also the first time that I get to play with kennyS. I am very glad to have him by my side, and I have no doubt that we will do great things together.
I am happy to be part of the #G2ARMY that I now consider my second family. Thanks to everyone who has supported us. Our journey will be long, but let’s write history together.”
Following the roster changes, Team EnVyUs is left with two members - Christophe "SIXER" Xia and Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer. The organisation has expressed that it will post an announcement in the near future regarding developments within the roster, as per the following tweet:
