ELEAGUE Major Qualifier - Day two recap

Day two of the ELEAGUE Major qualifier saw a further eight match-ups, where the teams were further segregated according to their individual performances.

Day two decided further filtered the top from the bottom as teams progressed through round two of the Swiss group stage. On this occasion there was only one upset, where TyLoo were able to overcome Cloud9 on de_Mirage with a convincing score. Other than that we saw an overtime in the match between HellRaisers and Ninjas in Pyjamas, where ultimately the European mix was able to overcome the Swedes and Team Dignitas fell short against GODSENT on de_Mirage.

For a brief outline of the matches we invite you to read the following:

ELEAGUE Major qualifier - Swiss groups round two

United States Counter Logic Gaming vs. Australia Renegades
Winner
: United States Counter Logic Gaming
Map: de_Dust2 - 5:10, 10:5, 4:1 (19:16)
MVP: United States Ethan "nahtE" Arnold

The first match of the day saw CLG and Renegades grind one another out in an overtime, where ultimately the Americans took the win. CLG start on the T side, where the team show a lacklustre performance and didn't secure as many rounds as you'd like to on the T side of dust2. The team did, however make up for their mistakes in the second half, where they recreated the round score of the first half, only this time in their favour. Said situation lead to overtime, where CLG were able to close out the series at a 19:16 score.

Europe mousesports vs. Russia Team Spirit
Winner
Europe mousesports
Map: de_Dust2 - 11:4, 5:1 (16:5)
MVP: Bosnia and Herzegovina Nikola "NiKo" Kova?

Next up were mousesports and tournament underdogs, Team Spirit. The initial half saw mouz demonstrate a commanding performance on their CT side, where the team played their game and secured a significant 11:4 lead going into the second half. The team proceeded with their momentum, closing out the match with the five remaining rounds they needed, conceding but one to the Russians.

Europe HellRaisers vs. Sweden Ninjas in Pyjamas
WinnerEurope HellRaisers
Map: de_Overpass - 7:8, 8:7, 4:2 (19:17)
MVP: Hungary Bence "DeadFox" Böröcz

The European mix kicked off on the T side of Overpass, where things went very equally between the teams. Neither side was able to sprint ahead, leading to a slight lead in favour of the Swedes at half time. The same situation was seen on the second half, expect this time the single round lead was in favour of HellRaisers, pushing the map into overtime. Contrary to the previous two halves, the overtime was very much skewed towards the European mix, allowing for a 4:2 finish and consequently a victory on the map.

France G2 Esports vs. France Team EnVyUs
Winner
France G2 Esports
Map: de_Dust2 - 6:9, 10:3 (16:12)
MVP: France Richard "shox" Papillon

G2 Esports kicked off on the CT side of de_Dust2, where they had a slightly underwhelming performance against fellow countrymen Team EnVyUs. Initially they had conceded the half, as the team's performance had amounted to six rounds to nine. The team apparently enjoyed the T side of the map much more, as they went on to secure ten rounds upon switching and closed off the map on 16:12.

Brazil Immortals vs. Russia Vega Squadron
Winner
Brazil Immortals
Map: de_Cache - 11:4, 5:4 (16:8)
MVP: Brazil Lucas "lucas" Teles

The Brazilians demonstrate a solid performance on their T side start on Cache, where they secure a strong 11:4 lead prior to transferring onto the CT side. Unfortunately for Vega Squadron, they were unable to perform up to Immortals' level, leading to a loss against the Brazilians.

Sweden GODSENT vs. Denmark Team Dignitas
Winner
Sweden GODSENT
Map: de_Mirage - 6:9, 10:2 (16:11)
MVP: Sweden Andreas "znajder" Lindberg

GODSENT secure their second victory of the qualifier, as they defeat Team Dignitas on Mirage. The initial half didn't go to plan, as they conceded three rounds on the T side to the Danes at half time. This did not stop the Swedish roster from successfully getting back into the game, as they recuperated and went on to smash a further ten rounds, securing their spot in the winner's round 3.

China TyLoo vs. United States Cloud9
Winner
China TyLoo
Map: de_Mirage - 10:5, 6:6 (16:11)
MVP: China Ke "Mo" Liu

TyLoo show up in their match against Cloud9, where the team shows a stunning T half on Mirage. Cloud9 were unable to fend off the Chinese aggressors, leading to a 10:5 half in favour of TyLoo. On the second half the teams went even, however due to the strong start from the Chinese a 6:6 half meant a victory in their favour.

Europe FaZe Clan vs. Canada OpTic Gaming
Winner
Europe FaZe Clan
Map: de_Overpass - 9:6, 7:5 (16:11)
MVP: Denmark Finn "karrigan" Andersen

Finally we saw FaZe Clan close out the day with a victory against OpTic Gaming. The initial half went swimmingly for the European mix, as they secured a decent 9:6 T side lead prior to switching sides. During the second half the defence was on point, leading to a 7:5 finish and subsequently a 16:11 victory.
