The Swedish roster of Ninjas in Pyjamas have bested G2 Esports in the grand final of StarLadder i-League Starseries Season 2, securing the Champions' title, as well as $150,000 in prize money.
The Ninjas in Pyjamas are proclaimed the Champions of StarLadder i-League Starseries Season 2, taking away the best-of-three match against G2 Esports in two consecutive maps. The Swedes are proud beholder of the title, as well as $150,000 richer, whilst the Frenchmen take second place, along with a cool $50,000.
The first map the two teams faced off on was de_Cache, where NiP were able to secure an absolutely ludicrous lead in the initial half. On the T side the Swedes managed to entirely dismantle the French, allowing for a flabbergasting 12:3 surplus prior to switching onto the CT side. Having switched, the Swedes went event with G2 in terms of score (4:4), however the prior half meant a 16:7 victory for the Ninjas.
The second and final map of the tournament was de_Overpass, perhaps the most entertaining exchange that took place over the course of the entire LAN event. The Swedes started off on the CT side, where they showed a confident performance, securing a decent lead (9:6) before half time. The Frenchmen were not about to give up so easily, mounting a comeback, where the team just about clenched the score, equalising at 15:15, pushing the series into overtime. The first overtime saw a stalemate, where neither team was able to take away the map, therefore ensuing a second overtime, which contrary to the prior saw NiP dominate, securing a 7:3 score and the Champions' title.
