Today marks the announcement of two Northern Arena 2016 Canadian eSports Championship, boasting an aggregate $200,000+ prize pool aimed at professional and up & coming teams.?
The Canadian League of Gamers has announced a brand new Championship series branded the Northern Arena 2016 Canadian eSports Championship. A total of two events will take place, sporting a total of over $200,000 up for grabs for both established, professional teams, as well as those that still have potential to prove in the scene. The event will consist of both LAN and offline qualifiers spread throughout the year, with the main event played out in November in Montreal, Canada. A rather exciting feature of the LAN events is the use of 360 degree virtual reality infrastructure, allowing the viewers to experience the event from a realistic vantage point.
Fourteen top teams from around the globe will be directly invited to the event. Two slots are reserved for the Call of the North online qualifiers, where Canada-based teams and top female rosters will butt heads in a bid to secure a placement at the LAN event in Montreal. A total of thirty-two teams are able to register for the Call of the North online qualifier, those interested in applying follow this link. The deadline for applications is the 8th of July, 2016, with the online qualifier taking place on July 23rd-24th. Details on the second qualifier are yet to be released.
