SKYLLA tournament series announcement

SKYLLA, a $2,500 monthly tournament series has been announced.

SKYLLA, a $2,500 prize pool grassroots tournament series was announced tonight. The new competition will act as a proving ground for up and coming teams and will occur monthly starting from June 2016. The format of the tournament will be as follows:

Participants:

  • Two open qualifiers for female teams (top two contestants from each qualifier advance to the group stage)
  • Four invited female teams
  • Eight invited male teams


A total of sixteen teams will participate at each of the monthly events.

For the first edition of the tournament that kicks off this weekend on June 4th, we will see the following teams:

After all qualifiers have concluded, the sixteen teams are split into four groups of four. Any single group will consist of two invited male teams, one invited female team and one qualified female team. All group stage matches are played out as best-of-ones. As for the playoffs, teams will be appropriated depending on their standings post-group stage. Top seed receives an automatic qualification for the quarter-finals, second and third seed receive a placement in the 1/8 finals, where the second seed is given a map advantage in a best-of-two series. Finally, fourth seed drops out of the tournament.
