The first day of the CIS Minor Championship saw both groups going live on the stage, with some amazing matches.?
The first day of CIS Minor Championship started with group A, where Method and Fluffy Gangsters opened the competition. Method looked really strong in this match, securing an easy 16-10 win and advancing to the winners match of the group. Next to follow, was the match between Arcade and Quest. This time, we saw a closer match, as Quest did indeed put up a good fight against Arcade, who are named as one of the favourites for this tournament. With a 16-13 win, Arcade moved to the winners match to face Method. This match brought a really interesting unbalanced match, where Method was the first one to take the lead for 1-0. They won the first map, de_train, very convincingly, 16-6, and moved to the second map full of confidence. However, this didn't really shake Arcade too much, as they were able to raise back and make a comeback for 2-1, taking wins on de_dust2 and de_mirage, 16:11 and 16:10.
Group B kicked off with easy matches between Rebels and Binary Dragons, and Gambit and eXplosive. Rebels and Gambit both managed to win their matches, not leaving any space to their opponents to work with, as the scores were 16:3 and 16:4. This led into yet another amazing match, where we saw Gambit and Rebels battling it out in the winners match of this group. The first map was de_cobblestone, and it went into six overtimes. The final score was 36-32 for Gambit who walked away with a very important point of this best of three match. The second map, de_inferno, was again a very close one, with Gambit reigning on the top with 16-14.
