The FACEIT Stage 2 LAN finals at Dreamhack Valencia opened today, and with it, the first matches of the groups.  The first of the day was the the two semifinals of group A, featuring Cloud9/Kinguin and Virtus.Pro/Natus Vincere. Cloud9 had no trouble shutting out Kinguin on de_dust2, where the multinational team had trouble keeping pace with the North Americans, allowing them to close out the match and drop Kinguin to the lower bracket. Virtus.Pro showed Natus Vincere more of a challenge, bu the Ukrainians still managed to take the win with a comfortable 16:12 scoreline.

Group A

Group A's upperbracket final was one of the closest matchups of the day, with neither team allowing the other to take two rounds in a row. Cloud9 opened up the match with narrowly won T pistol, but they were instantly traded by Na'Vi with a pistol armor buy. C9 afterwards bought up and won the next two rouns off the Ukranian side. Cloud9 finally got ahead after a incredible Glock eco win and a glass-cannon ace from Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham during a B site take, allowing the team to pull ahead in the half.

Natus Vincere managed to eek out the last few rounds however, ending the half 8:7 in C9's favor. Cloud9 took the second pistol as well and this time denied the second round win from their opponents. The North Americans continued their momentum to fourteen rounds, until finally Na'Vi finally got back into the game after a dangerously close clutch win by Denis "seized" Kostin, nearly bringing the match to overtime but Cloud9 came through in the final moments and won the last round on a pistol buy, bringing the match to a close with a 16:14 scoreline.  The winner of the lower bracket final tommorow will now have to face Na'Vi to make their way out the groups.

Group B

The matchups in group B came with suprisingly similar scorelines to the other groups, with fnatic taking out Liquid comfortably on dust2, while Ninjas in Pyjamas had a tight faceoff with Team Solomid that they ended up losing 13:16 after mounting an impressive comeback. For the upper bracket final we saw TSM and fnatic continue their rivalry, this time on overpass. TSM showed they still maintained their dominace even after their hiatus from competive play on their CT half, putting up an impressive twelve rounds and allowing fnatic only three.

The Swedish side kept themselves in the game on their own CT side pulling out seven more rounds, but the deficit from the first half proved to be too strong allowing TSM to close out the match 16:10. Fnatic will now face the winner of NiP/Liquid tomorrow to determine who will move on to the playoffs.
