Cloud9 are winners of the first HTC Reborn Invitational, securing the $5,000 prize.
The HTC Reborn Invitational went off without a hitch over the weekend and Cloud9 have come out as winners over a group of top North American opposition, beating Team Liquid in the final for the crown and $5,000 prize purse.
Cloud9 had a close scare against their first-round opponent Tempo Storm, losing the first map de_cache, which they are normally very solid on, against former player Shahzam's side. They would go on to win the remaining two maps with some effort involved, 16-13 and 16-12, to advance to play Counter Logic Gaming.
Counter Logic Gaming would prove to be another tough task for the team, beating Cloud9 on de_inferno after letting Cloud9 come back into the map having been up 12-3 at the half. Cloud9 would go on to secure the following two maps and set up a date in the finals with Team Liquid, whom Cloud9 had lost to at the ESWC Montreal NA Qualifier a few weeks prior.
Cloud9 would grind out a first map win, beating Liquid 16-14 on de_cache before unleashing their potential on de_dust2 and comprehensively dispatching Liquid 16-6.
