MLG have announced that they will be using a standard map pool for their upcoming X Games in Aspen.
With only a week left until the X Games in Aspen kick off, MLG has already provide the most of the information regarding this event. Today, the organizers have confirmed that they will be using a standard map pool for this tournament.
A standard map pool used by Valve was firstly introduced at the ESL One Cologne. It consists of the following maps:
- de_dust2
- de_inferno
- de_nuke
- de_mirage
- de_cache
- de_overpass
- de_cobblestone
The most disputable are the last two maps on this list, de_overpass and de_cobblestone. Those two maps have raised a lot of dust prior and after the ESL One Cologne, but also at DreamHack Winter too. We could witness some really amazing stuff, especially at de_overpass, during the Fnatic and LDLC match at the DreamHack Winter.
The CS:GO devs have received a really big feedback regarding those two maps and they've adjusted them accordingly to it. Today, we can see de_overpass being played at least once per day, while de_cobblestone is still a bit of 'no to go' map for many teams. We can just hope that this map will 'explode' during the MLG X Games and that the new strategies will be shown which might even change a current metagame.
As we have already reported, the eight teams are splitted into the two groups with the four in each. They will be playing a classical round robin where the teams will face each other in their groups. The top two teams from the both groups will advance to the playoffs.
