Team LDLC reigns supreme in group C, while NiP grabs second place in the group and a spot in the top eight teams of DreamHack Winter 2014.
Team LDLC showed off their supremacy in the very first match of the day as the French team got paired against a Polish team, ESC Gaming. shoxie and co. kicked off on the CT side of de_cobblestone where ESC Gaming got completely shut down. LDLC had 15-0 lead at half time and a plently space to work with at the T side. ESC managed to win a pistol round of the second half and tried to prolongue this match for a bit more. However, there was no bigger upset and LDLC took a 16-4 win.
Ninjas in Pyjamas' line up had its debut at the offline events, while Planetkey Dynamics played for the first time at one of the major tournaments. After the veto process the choice fell to de_overpass where NiP got to start at the more favored CT side. Finishing the first half with 13-2, NiP just snowballed to 16-2 and scheduled their duel against LDLC in the winner's match.
The winners match saw both favourites of this group, Team LDLC and Ninjas in Pyjamas, fighting for the first seed. Ninjas in Pyjamas once again got to play on de_overpass, where this time for the change they started on the T side. Team LDLC didn't really had a very successful half at the CT side, since they finished with the only 10 won rounds, so NiP was going full of confidence into the second half. However, the French team clutched a pistol round of the second half and kicked off perfectly at the T side. NiP striked back by winning an eco round, but LDLC led by Happy returned the favor in a following round and the Swedes started slowly losing their pace in this game. At the score of 15-13 LDLC were forced to eco and everyone thought that the decision will be made in the 30th round of the map. Unfortunately for the NiP, the French team showed once again a great skill with the pistols, especially CZ and they took a 16-13 victory by winning an eco round.
shoxie and his team are going to the playoffs full of confidence
ESC Gaming and Planetkey Dynamics, a two debutants at the major events, had to fight for survival in the losers match of the group C. Losing this match meant elimination, while a win would bring one more chance in the consolidation match against Ninjas in Pyjamas. The game was played on de_mirage, where ESC Gaming had excellent first half at the T side. They were securing the opening kills round and round repeatedly, mostly at the A bomb side which brought them 9-6 lead. The second half started much better for Planetkey Dynamics. The German team brought it back to a close match where in the end their own mistakes led them to lose 16-13.
In a real thriller which was featured during the consolidation match of the group C, NiP managed to prevail ESC Gaming and to secure the spot in the playoffs. The match was played on de_cache where the Swedes started on the CT side winning it 11-4. However, the Polish team led by innocent won a pistol round of the second half and slowly, on the wings of minise who just shined at the CT side, picked on a pace and rolled over to 13-13. At this point NiP went for a tactical pause which eventually stopped this streek by ESC and won a game for them. The final score was 16-13.
