The villain arc continues for Evil Geniuses as they advance to upper bracket finals.
Evil Geniuses dominated DRX in a clean 2-0 fashion. The team secured the top 4 and will face Paper Rex in the upper bracket finals for a chance to take the first championship slot.
EG drew the first blood and take the pistol round. DRX successfully converted their buy round to a win but at such a heavy cost as Kim "Zest" Gi-seok was the only player who remained alive.
EG continued their strong showing with well-executed retakes. They showed individual prowess as they maintained the lead. An impressive ace from Max "Demon1" Mazanov stretched their round advantage and boosted the team’s morale. This was after an exceptional 4k from Ethan "Ethan" Arnold.
DRX was able to lessen the deficit after they took three crucial rounds in their name. The first half ended with an 8-4 score in favor of Evil Geniuses.
DRX took the initial strike during the second half but EG wouldn’t let go of the upper hand. EG took three back-to-back round wins and pushed for match point.
DRX tried to hold on for another two rounds but EG put the final nail in their coffin and closed the game.
The second game was all EG needed to complete the sweep. The team showed their true mettle with a great opening in the first half.
Their aggressive playstyle was too much for DRX to handle. DRX missed some key moments to engineer a runback and EG’s winning streak continued.
DRX finally stopped the streak at round 11 but it was too late. EG were poised to close the game as they ended the first half with a 10-2 score.
DRX tried to win some crucial rounds to claw out of the deficit but EG asserted too much firepower. DRX had to tap out of the game as EG closed the series with an impressive 13-4 score.
EG will duke it out with Paper Rex in the upper bracket finals. The stakes are high for this matchup as the winning team will take the first Championship spot and secure at least $400,000.
