Luminosity Gaming's LG Loyal is changing things up in order to keep up with the North-American scene.
Earlier this week we reported on Luminosity's recent developments in the Overwatch scene. They purchased the star-roster from Hammers Esports, and now have them playing under the Luminosity banner as LG Evil. This roster quickly rose to the top of NA, consistently defeating more established teams and placing high in just about every event.
Meanwhile, the older Luminosity Gaming roster (now called LG Loyal) has been through a lot in recent months. Disregarding their initial pickup of Seagull's mixup team a year ago, their more modern, European roster has gone through a number of changes. Players such as Tseini, Ruster, Manneten, Zave and Kryw have come and gone. Of the original 2sTroNk lineup that signed with LG in August, fewer and fewer players remained.
The most notable change came when Misfits, LG and Rogue announced a swap between all three teams with LG gaining Kryw and Hidan. Many saw this as the moment LG would become a top 3 contender yet again, with the immense amount of talent available. Unfortunately for the organization, and its fans, the LG Loyal roster only fell in the rankings.
Yesterday, LG announced they are taking the step to figure out what roster configurations are possible and which one is desired. As such, EISSFELDT and Mineral have been taken off the active roster.
We are happy to see LG take the necessary steps to guarantee their spot in the scene, instead of giving up on the dream of having not one but two top Overwatch teams.
Mineral has gone to Twitlonger to explain the current situation at LG, and how he feels about having to look for a new opportunity. It's an interesting read.
Meanwhile, Loyal is going to be featuring several new players such as Realz and Hqrdest. They will be facing their sister team LG Evil in 4 days, in the Carbon Series group stage.
