Additional PTR patch: Roadhog rebalance + Winston buff

In addition to the larger PTR patch that showed up earlier this week, Blizzard has added additional tweaks for you to try out.

Aren't you glad to be a part of the Overwatch community? Two days ago Blizzard shared their implementation of a server browser for Overwatch, which in itself is already a very big content addition. But alongside it, the developers also saw an opportunity to redesign parts of Bastion (a character OP in the lower ranks and UP everywhere else), give some heroes minor buffs and add a list of QoL options. This patch has been live and available on the PTR since, but today Blizzard announced additional tweaks that should add to the ever-increasing quality of Overwatch:

  • Scrap Gun
    • Spread decreased by 20%
  • Chain Hook
    • Targets are now pulled to a location 3.5 meters away, up from 2 meters.
    • Cooldown increased from 6 to 8

"The Roadhog changes overall reduce the power of his hook a bit, but his gun is now more effective when not using the hook."

  • Critical hit volume reduced by 15%

"Winston's head hit volume was just abnormally big, making him take more damage than he otherwise should. This change brings it more in line with other heroes."

Roadhog continues to get a lot of the focus as many keep complaining his hooks are too impactful as is. With this set of changes, more counterplay (from your allies) will be possible when you get hooked. The actual kill potential from Roadhog doesn't get impacted much as his weapon is now much more accurate.

Winston is also getting a significant buff through plastic surgery. On the next PTR version, Winston will feel a bit tankier as hitting crits on him is now somewhat harder. Especially for a mobile 'in your face' character like Winston this will make a big difference.
